Ban Comic Sans

May 17th, 2008 Posted in Tech Corner | 1 Comment »

Comic Sans is a casual script typeface designed by Vincent Connare and released in 1994 by the Microsoft Corporation. It is classified as a casual, non-connecting script, and was designed to imitate comic book lettering, for casual use in informal documents. The typeface has been supplied with Microsoft Windows since the introduction of Windows 95, initially as a supplemental font in the Windows Plus Pack. It has since become one of the most widely-used Windows system fonts.

Many people like to use Comic Sans for different purposes. It looks cute and casual, and I guess this is why the font is popular among the users. However, I came across to this web site, started by Dave and Holly Combs, and found that there are a group of people who really hate about using Comic Sans.

Why they want to ban Comic Sans? Most of them feel that Comic Sans should be banned due to a widespread misuse of the font. Martin, from Earz-Mag.com had conducted an interview with Dave Combs about his move of banning Comic Sans. You can read more details from this . If you are one of them, pay a visit to this .Check this too, which collects the pictures of Comic Sans (typeface) instances seen in real life.

So, which side are you right now?

Have you seen this cute little speaker before? It is the X-Mini Capsule Speaker which looks more like a yo-yo to me. I received the product from Moy, my supervisor for Microsoft Student Partner Program. Thanks a lot to Moy…

Although this pocket size speaker looks small, but the sound quality and volume is quite impressing. To my surprise, the product has won as the winner of RedDot design award in year 2008.

Building Documentation Comments in C#

February 26th, 2008 Posted in Programming | No Comments »

C# allows developers to embed XML comments into their source files, in order to provide additional information for other developers. Take a look at the example below:

You can see that there some descriptions for the class System.String. Actually, this can be done by the insertion of XML comments into your source codes. These XML comments start with three forward slashes (///), where the first two signify a comment and the third one informs the parser that this is an XML comment.

/// <summary>
/// Perform a test function
/// </summary>
/// <param name="TestingString">Testing String</param>
/// <returns>string</returns>

Your description should be appeared on the screen now :)

For more information, please visit to this site. Besides that, you also can check the Recommended Tags for Documentation Comments at MSDN library.
